ALARMate is a device that prevents a vehicle driver from falling asleep at the wheel. It detects drowsiness of the driver using an image processing camera and a heart rate sensor. The device notifies the driver once drowsiness is detected, and sounds an alarm and sends an emergency message in extreme cases. The device is nonintrusive, modular (i.e. not built into vehicle), and ensures the user’s privacy, as all processing is done on board the device.
